In Generation II, Stantler didn’t evolve. It was one of those rare one-shot Pokémon (that isn’t Legendary, at least) that most players tend to overlook or forget about. And it stayed that way for a very, very long time. But then, 20 years and hundreds of Pokémon later, Stantler finally (and unexpectedly) received a long overdue evolution in the form of Wyrdeer.
Over the years, the Mario Kart series has had its fair share of spooky-themed tracks, from haunted bridges to scary forests. But many of them involve driving through haunted houses. The latest is called Twisted Mansion. The track’s environment, music, and background characters all fit the spooky aesthetic perfectly.
Stantler’s most distinctive features are its strange antlers. The shape of the antlers, and the black orbs within them, make them look like eyes. Stantler can distort reality and create illusions with these antlers by subtly changing the flow of air around them.

Mario Circuit is a twisting road suspended above a grassy canyon, carved into the shape of a Möbius strip. This is not only a unique and clever way to show off the new anti-gravity mechanic, but, as a bonus, since it looks like the number ‘8’, it also ties into the game’s numeric title very nicely.
Growlithe is a cute, hard-working little pup and it is commonly seen as a pet and police dog. But its mane-like tufts of fur and tiger-like stripes hint at more interesting inspirations.
Toad’s Turnpike is less of a racetrack and more of a busy highway. Karts probably shouldn’t drive on a public road at night, but that hasn’t stopped Mario and his pals.
